About Santa Barbara County Criminal History

Santa Barbara County records are divided among the Sheriff’s Records Bureau, Superior Court divisions, city police departments, California Department of Justice, CDCR, and the California Megan’s Law Website. This private resource organizes the official portals, counters, addresses, and phone lines so readers can identify the custodian that holds the record they need.

Why We Built This Site

California does not offer one public name search for a complete criminal history. In Santa Barbara County, the Sheriff maintains custody and many law-enforcement records, while the Superior Court holds filed charges, hearings, and dispositions. A person reviewing their own statewide summary must use the California Department of Justice fingerprint process. Prison custody belongs to CDCR, and public registry information comes from the California Megan’s Law Website. We organize the verified request paths, fees, search tools, and office contacts without pretending these distinct records form one database.

What You Will Find Here

  • Record guides: where Santa Barbara County court, arrest, custody, and registry records originate
  • Official review steps: how Californians request their own DOJ summary through Live Scan
  • Agency contacts: how to reach the Sheriff’s Records Bureau, Superior Court divisions, and state custodians
  • Relief information: where qualifying California expungement or arrest-sealing matters are filed and verified

What We Cannot Do

This is a privately run reference site, not part of any California court, police department, sheriff’s office, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:

  • We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
  • We cannot file expungement petitions, records requests, or any other paperwork on your behalf
  • We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
  • We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
  • We cannot promise that a published fee, address, or phone number has not changed

Only the Sheriff, Superior Court, California Department of Justice, or another originating agency can issue or certify its record.

Search Partners

Outside providers operate search boxes that appear on some pages. They control their services, results, prices, and signup terms. A paid signup reached through one of those tools may generate a referral fee that supports this resource. We neither set the provider’s charges nor determine the information returned.
